The newest release from Manchester-based boy band Ives has given indie-pop a new lease of life.
The 5 piece band released the upbeat track ‘Better than me’ hitting us right in the feels. The ballad gives us a very personal and emotional immersion into the track.
With the catchy chorus, and powerful beat drops throughout, the single clasps the essence of reminiscing about better times with that special someone, something Ives' listeners can relate to.
The track starts with atmospheric vocals and solo piano, building an incredibly personal experience. Although repetitive at times, a sweet melody is sustained throughout, making the song enjoyable to listen to and serves as a product of Ives’ skills in producing a professional and polished sound. The band also nails a strong bridge, with a dramatic build-up to the chorus.
Overall, the song creates an intense yet relaxing experience for the listener and showcases promising potential from the band. Overall rating: 3.5/5
