Meet...Yard Arms

The 'transatlantic melancholic' duo, Yard Arms, from Bristol, has once again shown us what they are made of with their latest EP 'Sanctuary Lines'.

Formed in 2018, comprised of Noah Villeneuve and Billy Golding, the duo has taken listeners on a musical ride ranging from mid-80's pop to emo anthems, all the way through enraptured post-rock scene.

From gaining attention from BBC Introducing to recognition from Charlie Ashcroft (Amazing Radio), this duo is not the ones to forget.

Luckily Vibez Music was able to ask a couple of questions about their latest EP, what's the most trouble they've got in (unfortunately not allowed into their secrets) and what is next for them.

Firstly, how has life been since the release of your latest EP 'Sanctuary Lines'?

Not a lot has changed really, except off the back off the millions we’ve made we now have our own chauffeurs and beach property in the Cayman Islands.

What was your favourite part of creating your third EP and do you believe you've grown as an artist since your last one?

I think it’s hard to pinpoint an exact favourite part of it because we enjoy every element for different reasons, even the more difficult ones. Seeing the songs grow across the course of their embryonic beginnings into the final product definitely excites us. And we’ve definitely grown as artists significantly since the last one, a lot has changed to us personally and professionally. It’s hard to notice that when you’re in the thick of it but reflecting on the subject matter of the record it’s clear that it’s the case.

As a duo, what inspired you to start out in music?

The shared need for living something bigger than ourselves, the chance to drink underage in pubs and impress our mates and girlfriends. And a shared love for the music we were listening to growing up and seeing on MTV and Kerrang.

Have you ever experienced any fall outs as a duo, and do you individually have any pet peeves?

Nothing quite Simon & Garfunkel level, we’re pretty honest with each other about things so it’s all fairly tame, unfortunately, no Kings of Leon throwing each other through glass table stories yet I’m afraid.

How would you describe your sound to someone if they haven't heard of you?

Transatlantic melancholic bops.

If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?

Death Cab or The Cure.

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

Working full-time jobs so that we can pay rent, eat and spend the remainder on petrol to get to shows and merchandise…oh wait.

What is the most trouble you’ve ever gotten into?

Wouldn’t you like to know…?

Where have you performed? What is your favourite and least favourite venues? Do you have any upcoming shows?

No shows until 2021. We have played at all manner of venues from the good, the bad and the damn right bizarre. Sometimes it’s those really strange ones that turn out the best.

Finally, what is next for you?

Working hard on writing the next record for the rest of the year as our hands are pretty much tied regarding anything else.
