Top 5 Queer Artists who are Changing the Industry

As we hit Pride month, dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ communities around the world, Vibez Music has picked out some of the best singers out there who are changing the music scene.

This year is the 51st anniversary since the start of Stonewall Riots 1969, and with the Black Lives Matter movement, it has become very significant for everyone to come together.

As we support and protest our rights, we wouldn't be here in this position without the presence of some of the most influential people we have witnessed and Vibez Music wants to pay tribute to them.

Marsha P.Johnson - an American gay liberation activist and drag queen who became a prominent figure in the uprising of Stonewall.

"As long as my people don't have their rights across America, there's no reason for celebration."

Sylvia Rivera - a Latin American gay liberation, transgender right activist and participated in demonstrations with the Gay Liberation Front

"We have to be visible. We should not be ashamed of who we are."

Harvey Milk - the first openly gay politician to be elected in California. Milk was assassinated in 1978 but during his time, he pushed legislation to ban discrimination based on sexual employment, housing, and public accommodations.

“Hope will never be silent."

2019 was gagworthy of queer artists, with headline shows to number one singles, but 2020 has reached a new level of artists who are breaking down the walls.

To celebrate Pride and progress, Vibez Music has gathered the top five artists who are challenging the norms of life through their lyrics and music. All of these artists you should have on rotation.

King Princess

The 21-year-old singer who rose into the music scene after signing to Mark Ronson's record label Zelig Recordings at the age of 18 has become a Queer icon.

The Brooklyn born and raised artist should be on everyone's playlist as she releases constant gay bangers and it does not stop there as her lesbian romance songs Talia and Pussy is God is telling all those homophobes to step back.

VINCINT

Best known as a finalist on the first season of singing competition The Four and now known for his latest single Be Me for Season 5 of Queer Eye.

The Philadelphia born and Los Angeles based singer, who started his music life at the age of five is now becoming a pop queen.

His latest EP, The Feeling is out now and it's no wonder he's on the tips of everyone's tongues.

L Devine

The young electro-pop singer hasn't been around for that long, but she is on everyone's watch list on becoming the biggest hit of 2020.

With her massive bedroom pop single Naked Alone which proclaims "all I really need is some sex" to taking her listeners back to the 80s in her synthetic song Peachy Keen.

L Devine is doing what every other singer is afraid of.

Troye Sivan

We couldn't miss out this one as he has become the most influential queer artists within the music industry.

From rising on YouTube to now becoming one of the biggest male singers in the world, Troye Sivan has done it right. His latest album Bloom explores the defiant of gay expression and opening-up to real-life events.

The South African born Australian singer who has featured with Ariana Grande, Charli XCX and Lauv isn't going to stop.

Kim Petras

The German singer currently based in Los Angeles has made headlines across the music industry for all the rights things.

Well known for her young gender transition but Kim Petras wants to be known as a pop star and that has been proved through her singles Heart to Break and Icy.

Kim Petras is becoming the artist we have all been waiting for and we can't wait for what she brings.

From King Princess and Kim Petras, to in between L Devine and Troye Sivan and let's not forget VINCINT. All of which are giving the LGBT+ community a voice just like Harvey Milk did. The protest for equal rights is still going and music is here to help in all of the right ways.
